Customer-focused Curtailment Planning: A Unique Approach
EnergyConnect appreciates that no two customers are alike. In fact, different facilities within the same customer are typically quite unique. EnergyConnect’s account teams are poised to meet with customers to better understand their operation’s electricity consumption, consult on curtailment strategies and to tailor a plan that optimally meets the clients’ priorities and needs.
An essential element to successful demand response participation is effective curtailment planning. Effective planning maximizes customer earnings and provides a more reliable resource to ensure the grid’s reliability. Thanks to such planning efforts with our customers prior to last year’s Interruptible Load for Reliability (ILR) season, EnergyConnect had 99% of our registered facilities successfully participate in the PJM-mandated test.
Outstanding customer preparation also contributed to EnergyConnect delivering over 110% of our committed MWs back to the grid in 2009. This season, we’re finding that customers are even more eager to identify and curtail additional non-essential uses of electricity as part of their curtailment planning. By working closely with their EnergyConnect account team and engineering resources, many customers have increased their committed curtailments two- or threefold over last year.
With the attractive EventConnect ILR capacity prices, 2010 presents a terrific opportunity for customers to design achievable curtailment plans that optimize earnings and deliver a highly dependable and robust source of electricity in the event of a grid emergency. EnergyConnect’s customer-focused approach to curtailment planning and account management makes it easy for clients to fully participate in this important program.
